Window film types

Most jobs need one or two of these. Here's what each film does, so you know what to ask for. We'll confirm what fits your glass when we come out.

Solar control film

Solar film blocks heat and glare at the glass, before it reaches the room. Rooms stay more comfortable, screens stay readable, and the AC isn't fighting the afternoon sun. Most quality films also block over 99% of UV, the main cause of faded floors, furniture, artwork and merchandise.

It comes in a range of shades, from nearly clear to dark, and in neutral or reflective finishes. Reflective films give daytime privacy: you see out, people outside see a reflection. At night, with lights on inside, that flips.

Good for: west- and south-facing rooms, sunrooms, picture windows, offices and storefronts.

Privacy & decorative film

Frosted, patterned and gradient films give an etched-glass look. They keep a space private day and night while daylight still comes through. Use full coverage, a band at eye level, or a gradient that fades out toward the top.

Good for: bathroom windows, front doors and sidelights, conference rooms and glass office walls.

Safety & security film

A thicker clear film that holds glass together when it breaks, instead of letting it fall out in pieces. It doesn't change how the window looks.

Good for: sliding and entry doors, large ground-floor windows, storefronts, and glass near play areas.

Anti-graffiti film

A clear sacrificial layer for street-level glass. It takes the scratches and tags, then gets replaced instead of the glass.

Good for: storefronts, restaurants and building entrances.

Will film affect my window warranty?

Some window manufacturers have rules about which films can go on their glass. We look at your glass type before recommending a film so the choice is compatible with your windows.

See the difference a shade makes

VLT is the percentage of light a film lets through. Lower numbers are darker. Tap a shade to preview it; we'll bring real samples to your windows.
